Drink wine or don’t drink wine; that is the health question.

There are different studies and opinion on this subject. Does wine help your health well yes it does and no it doesn’t.

Wine as does all alcohol has great health benefits. A glass or two of wine or any other spirit with your meal will decrease your calorie intake up to 20-40%. This happens because alcohol makes your system think it’s taking in more calories then you really are.

There are also a reaction in the stomach that slows down digestion and the natural reaction of your stomach to empty out. This reaction fills you up faster so you eat less.

There are also flavonoids, nonflavonoids, antioxidants, and resveratrol all of these help with heart disease, increase HDL which is your good cholesterol and a decreased in LDL which is your bad cholesterol.

Studies have been done that also show that with regular glasses of red wine people have showed an increase in brain power and also a reduction in mental decline as you age.

Red wine is suggested do to its higher levels of flavonoids, nonflavonoids, antioxidants, and resveratrol then other wines, spirits and food. To further limit the type of wine it needs to be red wine fermented from grapes to get the most benefit.

Your health can be effect in negative ways. Like everything else if not drank in moderation alcohol cause several health issues. It can damage your liver. If pregnant or nursing it can have effects on the baby.

Alcohol of all types is a depressant so it may have physiological effects on you. Medications that you are on may be effected. Obviously drinking and driving will have and effect on you and everyone around you.

Remember the benefits are based on one or two drinks for man and one drink for a woman a day, not seven or fourteen a week. If you do not drink through out the week drinking it all at once will give no health benefits.

The reason a man is able to have more per day is that they are normally bigger and also has more enzymes to break down alcohol then women. A drink is defined as 12 ounces (355 milliliters) of beer, 5 ounces (148 milliliters) of wine, or 1.5 ounces (44 milliliters) of 80-proof distilled spirits.

Also remember wine or any other alcohol drink does not replace a well rounded balanced diet and exercise.
